ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Cyndi Lauper’s iconic song Girls Just Want to Have Fun changed the world for young women in the 1980s and it’s still delivering a vital message about equality. Cyndi endured violence as a child and as an adult. She was raped by a colleague, had to beg and busk for food and came close to ending her own life. She has survived against the odds and remains an icon decades from the release of her first album. She is now a dedicated women’s rights campaigner and the FUNdamental Rights slogan is known across the globe.
