❤️HER NAME IS SELMA IBRAHIM❤️

He beat her to death. He killed her unborn baby. Yet a jury decided this was not murder.
Selma Adem Ibrahim was killed by her partner on September 24, 2019. She was 24 years old and a mum to two young children.
Nilisi Kaniki repeatedly bashed Selma around the head and face at her home in Crestmead.
His brutality caused irreversible bleeding and swelling to her brain.
As Selma lay dying, he sat nearby, consuming drugs. He did not 000 until the following day.
Selma had no chance.
Neither did her unborn child.
During the police investigation, he blamed someone else for killing Selma.
He tried to set up an alibi by texting to someone: “Bro if anyone asks, I was with you last night”.
He also showed no remorse.

Yet, a jury decided last week this was NOT murder.
They found him guilty of manslaughter instead, meaning he will spend significantly less time in jail.
He will serve 15 years for killing both Selma and the baby.
With time served, he’ll be free in 11 years.
“Her life ended not by accident, not by illness, but by violence,” her family said in their statement to court.
“We remember her in the small moments, in her favourite song on the radio, in the way someone laughs, in the quiet.
“We speak her name not because it brings pain but because it keeps her here, even just for a second.
“No matter how much time passes, there will always be a chair she should be sitting in, a phone call that will never come.”
