Services

Australian Femicide Watch and The RED HEART Campaign provide a range of services for families impacted by the unlawful death of a loved one and for media professionals. Services for families are completely free and available on request. Ethical media training for journalists may incur some costs. Below is a list of services currently offered.

Free media advocacy, training and support for families who have lost a loved one to violence

Australian Femicide Watch founder Sherele Moody provides pro bono media advocacy, training and support for families navigating the unlawful death of a woman or child.

Sherele is a journalist with decades of experience working across print and digital platforms. She specialises in social justice journalism and has a background in crime and court reporting.

Most people will never speak to a journalist in their lives. When a woman or child is killed, the media becomes a crucial – and often unwanted – aspect of a person’s trauma journey.

Sherele provides support, training and mentoring to ensure families are able to understand how the media works and how to control the narrative of their loved one’s story.

Training for journalists wanting to report ethically on violence against women and children

Australian Femicide Watch founder Sherele Moody provides pro bono training for journalists wanting to improve how they report on violence against women and children.

Sherele is a journalist with decades of experience working across print and digital platforms. She specialises in social justice journalism and has a background in crime and court reporting.

When a woman or child is killed, the media becomes a crucial – and often unwanted – aspect of a person’s trauma journey.

Journalists who understands the unique needs of families impacted by violence will produce stories that do not add to the stress and trauma these people are already enduring.

Training can be provided on-site at the media outlet’s cost or can be provided pro bono online.

Pro bono campaign support for families seeking justice

Australian Femicide Watch and The RED HEART Campaign often campaign on behalf of families seeking justice for their loved ones.

We understand how the police, courts and support services often fail women and children before they are killed and after their deaths.

Founder Sherele Moody has run a number of successful campaigns over the years. She wants to use her skills and experience to make sure families are able to run their own campaigns and gain the change they need. She will also run campaigns on a family’s behalf if this is requested.

Support is available across all areas of campaigning, including crafting petitions, lobbying policy-makers and MPs, accessing the media, and harnessing the power of Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
