❤️HER NAME IS: JACQUI PURTON!❤️

When he killed her mum, 20-year-old Shakira Robertson became the full-time carer for her little brothers.
Today, that man was sentenced, effectively getting away with murder.
Her name is Jacqui Lee Purton.
James Kenneth Austin killed Jacqui in Tasmania on March 13, 2023. She was 37.
She had only recently ended the relationship.
Austin deliberately drove his car into Jacqui as she tried to leave the property.
After he hit Jacqui, he put her into the car and tried to divert police from the scene. He denied her CPR. Instead, he went to bed.
He claimed he was only trying to scare her.
Austin was originally charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
He will serve just eight years.
Growing up, Jacqui was an adventurous little girl, surrounded by love and care.
She was always smiling and had the cutest dimples.
She was protective, loyal and loving, especially toward her sisters Keshia (left), Jenna, Kaitlyn, Zoe and Nyssa. These were traits she would take into her role as mum to four children.
In her teens, Jacqui blossomed. She was a social butterfly – every girl’s best friend. She was always bringing home stray animals – soon she was bringing home other children who had rough home lives.
Jacqui’s first love was horses. As a youngster, she hoped to be a jockey, but it wasn’t to be.
“Her main goal in life was to live on a farm surrounded by horses and become a wonderful mum, Shakira says.
“She succeeded in becoming the amazing mum she always wanted to be.”

Jacqui met Austin in 2019.
He had a farm. He had horses. He was – on the surface – her ideal companion.
“To her, it was like, ‘Oh my God, this is amazing. This is who I want to spend the rest of my life with’,” Shakira says.
“It was a four-year relationship of abuse.”
Shakira and her mum were exceptionally close.
“She was fiercely protective of me and always pushed me to live a life that didn’t hold regret,” Shakira says.
“She taught me to ride horses, and we spent our time together on horseback, where Mum felt free.
“I miss her presence, her laugh, her smile and her individual sense of humour. She always had our backs.”
The sentencing of Austin is not the end for Shakira and her brothers – they will be fighting for Jacqui’s Law.
Over the past 10 years, I’ve documented many femicides where men have used cars as a weapon.
These men most often get no – or little – jail by pleading guilty to manifestly inadequate charges.
The use of cars to traumatise and injure women is a significant pattern of behaviour in intimate partner violence – but authorities refuse to acknowledge or prosecute it appropriately.
Jacqui’s Law will ensure the domestic violence killing of a partner using a vehicle is prosecuted as murder.
“She was deliberately killed by her abusive ex-partner,” Shakira says.
“He made attempts in the past to run her down, and on March 13, 2023, he followed through on his threats.
“Our case has been grossly mishandled.
“We will never know what her final moments were truly like, and we will never know what she may have been thinking.
“We will never get to hear her voice or infectious laugh again.”
JACQUI PURTON MATTERS! ❤️
