During the Federal Election a neurosurgeon tore down a political poster for a female candidate, stomped on it and tossed it in the bin, while encouraging the ‘boys’ to ‘destroy the evidence’ and ‘always bury the body’.
Now we are finding out more about that doctor – Professor Gregory Malham – thanks to a Four Corners investigation.
Laura Heffernan was a nurse at Malham’s workplace – she was also in a relationship with him.
She died by suicide in 2014. She left a note behind blaming him for driving her to ending her own life.

The note is contained in the coronial brief that has just been made public.
This is part of what Laura wrote: “I feel disgusting & used & humiliated & ashamed. I don’t think the pain of how someone could be so hurtful & f***ed up & totally made me think they loved me & wanted a life with me will ever go away. It just hurts so much.”
She also sent this to friends: “I wanted you girls to know how fucked up Greg is. I spoke to his ex-wife today. She knew that we were both being totally duped. Greg’s told me lie after lie and is unable to give the truth when face to face. She thinks he has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I’m so ashamed, embarrassed and humiliated. He is such a bad person. How can you think you can know someone when they can be that evil?”
Multiple former colleagues of Malham revealed he is crass, vulgar, sexist and intimidating.
“Comments about women, about their tits ― just really crass, vulgar comments,” one colleague told the ABC.
After the corflute incident, Melham resigned from Epworth – one of Australia’s largest private hospitals.
He now operates at Melbourne’s Warringal Private Hospital (run by Ramsay Healthcare). He is also employed by RMIT University.
Neither seem keen to sack him despite all of this!
