He set Destiny Otton-Rakuraku on fire just over 11 months ago.
Destiny refused to let him erase her life – or her future.
The 34-year-old single mum from was critically injured in January this year when her former partner Renata Edward Manning doused Destiny in petrol and lit a flame at her home in Kingston.
She suffered burns to almost half her body in the domestic violence assault and there were moments when she came close to death.
Destiny is now recovering. It is slow and it is painful, but she is getting there little by little.
She’s lost her independence, her ability to raise her children by herself and her ability to work. Destiny relies on her mum for many of her needs.
Her family is raising money to help Destiny’s recovery – you can donate here.
