Vikrant Thakur is charged with murder. It is understood they had separated but were living in the same home for the sake of Supriya’s son.
Supriya is the 72nd Australian woman killed this year and the 177th woman killed since January 1 of 2024.
Supriya’s mum, brother and the rest of her family are in India and her son is now in limbo. I have spoken to Supriya’s family and they told me they are trying to work out how to bring her son into their care and are hopeful her brother can travel to Australia.

Supriya’s friend Belinda has started a GoFundMe for the youngster and is hoping we can all dig deep to make his future a little more secure.
“Supriya was a devoted mother who worked tirelessly, often long hours, to build a secure future for her only son,” Belinda writes.
“Everything she did was for him.
“Supriya was known for her caring nature and dedication to helping others.
“She worked long hours and had aspirations of becoming a registered nurse, driven by her desire to care for people and create a better future for her son.”
