Imagine your abuser’s out of jail and you’re living in a constant state of fear.
You wake up one morning to find media outlets across the country running these headlines above his photo:
‘Payback’. ‘Sinister warning to his enemies’. ‘Targeting ex-partners’. ‘Nobody will survive’. ‘Nobody spared’. ‘Threatens revenge’.
The Daily Mail, News.com.au, the Daily Telegraph and other media outlets have become the latest instruments of distress for domestic violence survivors as powerful men go after the women they harmed.
Woman-basher Salim Mehajer is promoting his so-called autobiography.

Mahajer was convicted and jailed for multiple assaults on a former partner – these included choking her until she passed out and repeatedly punching her.
He’s free now and well, he doesn’t have to directly intimidate or cause her fear because he’s got the media doing that for him.
Sadly, there seems to be no legal recourse for the woman he abused as he is not making
Journalists are under no obligation to report on his book or his plans to take revenge. Indeed, they’re under no obligation to give him any airtime at all.
But they know the stories will generate clicks and traffic on social media.
Right now, journalists are his puppet and they’re falling in line to regurgitate his threats without any regard for the woman he abused.
This is not journalism. It’s a joke.
