The disappearance of four-year-old Gus Lamont is now a major crime, with a suspect identified. Police have stopped short of labelling the crime a homicide. Last year we lost 26 children to violence.
Gus was reported missing from his family’s remote South Australian property on Saturday, September 27. His body has not been found despite extensive searches in the region.
Police have stressed that Gus’ parents are not considered suspects but that a person connected to the little boy has withdrawn their cooperation into the investigation.
Major Crime officer in charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said police executed a warrant at the property in January, conducted a forensic search and seized items.
