Radio host and former footy player Barry Lea, 54, has used his appearance on Australian Survivor to gain bail on multiple offences.
He was released by the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday, despite being charged for a raft of domestic violence offences including common assault, deprivation of liberty attempting and to pervert the course of justice.
It’s alleged he strangled his partner in March of 2025 but he is not charged with that offence.
Lea was arrested and bailed for an incident five months later.
He breached the no contact conditions of his bail and was charged with stalking and has already been sentenced for that.
The stalking was against another woman, whom he filmed naked through a window.
He was arrested this month and charged with one count of attempting to pervert justice because he tried to get his partner to drop charges.
The Crown applied for Lea’s bail to be revoked because he posed too great a risk of interfering with Crown witnesses.
Lea’s lawyer told the court he should be released because he was once on television.
“Just to give your honour an indication of the fall from grace this man has had, he was a contestant back in 2016 on Australian Survivor,” the lawyer said.
