I have just purchased my first home, but I will not be living in it – and I won’t be a landlord.
Stacey’s Sanctuary is for domestic violence victims needing a step-up as they save money for their own permanent home.
It is fully-furnished and situated close to vital services and transport systems.
I’ve named the one-bedroom apartment after nine-year-old Stacey-Ann Tracy, who was murdered by my stepfather in 1990.
This project is part of my commitment to ensuring her name – and legacy – lives on and to ensuring women have somewhere safe to go because a lack of housing should not contribute to Australia’s femicide epidemic.
