❤️SHE MATTERS: DIANE ELAINE TURNER-HARKESS!❤️
‘She held our family together with her warmth and strength, and every moment with her was filled with joy.’
Her name is Diane Elaine Turner-Harkess.
She was so many things to so many people. A mum. A grandmother. An aunty. A friend.
She was a woman with a whole lot of living and loving to do.
She is a woman whose life was taken too soon.
And now, in the absence of answers, her family waits for closure and justice.
Diane was killed at her home at Bateau Bay, NSW, on August 24.
Police found her body after emergency services were called to attend a fire.
At first, it was thought she died in that fire. Police have confirmed someone ended her life before the flames were lit.
Police have charged a grandson with an unrelated domestic violence offence and arson. He has not been charged with Diane’s death.
Diane is the 49th of 52 Australian women killed this year and the 154th of 157 women killed since January 1, 2024.
Detectives are appealing for the public’s help, seeking CCTV as well as information about a beige puffer jacket, a light brown hooded jumper, and a black hat that were dumped between Bateau Bay and Chittaway Point around the time Diane was killed.
Diane’s daughters Nanette and Janelle and her grandson Kain want you to know their beloved woman was a powerhouse of a woman whose legacy would continue.
“There was a light in our lives named Diane – gentle, brave and endlessly giving.
“She held our family together with her warmth and strength, and every moment with her was filled with joy.
“Her absence leaves a silence that words cannot capture, but her spirit, her kindness, and the love she gave so freely will live in our hearts forever.
“We honour her memory by standing together, raising awareness and fighting for justice in her name.”
Diane’s niece Kyra said her aunt’s impact was indelible and her family would long grapple with the immense loss of this amazing woman.
“Diane made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible,” Kyra wrote.
“Many women have done excellently, but Diane surpasses them all.
“Her absence is like the sky, spread over everything.”
