Another day, another horrifyingly familiar story about a sex store owner treating their staff like shit.
Only this time, this bloke sexually assaulted a young woman while she was undertaking a trial period in the hopes of getting a job.
Costa George owns Kinky Klosett in Fortitude Valley.
He physically and sexually assaulted the young would-be employee at the store.
Just weeks ago, he went to trial on two counts of sexual assault and one of rape.
The charges relate to the attack in March of 2022.
The jury acquitted him of rape and of one sexual assault charge.
For the conviction on the remaining charge, he was sentenced to one year behind bars, but old mate judge suspended that for 12 months.
So yeah, no jail, no justice. Again.

The young woman he violated is rightly angry and distressed.

“He tore my past and future self to shreds,” she said in her victim impact statement.
“That night, you targeted the wrong woman – you targeted me.
“a woman, who, even though terrified and with a shaky voice, stood up and reported you.
“Because if not me, who else?
“Men like you are a danger to society and will pounce again.”
She urged other women to take care.
I’m deeply concerned for the women who work in his store and for anyone who comes into contact with him,” she says.
“If I were a woman working there, I’d be extremely cautious.
It makes me angry that there’s so little in place to protect myself and other women. The lack of accountability feels like a failure of justice.
“Women of Brisbane — please stay alert and look out for one another.”
This case is one of many I’ve heard about these past few weeks – in the other situations, employees at different adult stores and owned by other people were raped by customers while they were working.
There’s also been many stories of intimidation and sexual harassment shared with me by many current and former employees in the industry.
It’s very clear, the adult store sector is rife with violence, victim blaming and exploitation.
