SHE MATTERS: MEGAN TANGYE

❤️SHE MATTERS: MEGAN TANGYE!❤️
‘She would always be the first person to check in on others’
Megan Tangye was critically injured at a home in Port Macquarie, NSW, about December 27. She passed away in hospital a few hours after police found her. No one has been arrested or charged over Megan’s death.
She is the 77th Australian woman killed in 2025 and the 182nd woman killed between January 1 of 2024 and December 31, 2025.
Police are speaking with a number of people as part of their investigation – it is believed one of the suspects may be a male known to Megan.
In the wake of Megan’s death, people on social media went on a blaming and demeaning spree.
Because charges have not been laid, there’s no contempt of court risk so media outlets allowed these individuals to run free with their appalling judgment.
In my 29 years as a journalist, nothing’s changed: Murdered women continue to be fodder for media and for the venomous parts of our community.
Megan was a ‘beautiful and nurturing soul,’ a relative told a media outlet.
“Megan was always so kind and caring,” she said.
“She would always be the first person to check in on others.
“This has hit very close to home – we’re not coping so well right now.
“But we’re not going to let this defeat us.”
Strike Force Hazen has been set up with local and Homicide Squad detectives investigating Megan’s death.
“There’s a number of inquiries we’ll keep an open mind about,” Detective Inspector Mark Rogers said.
“If anyone’s heard anything or have any information regarding Megan we would urge them to come forward.
If you know anything, please call 000 or Crime Stoppers.
