Velvet Pesu’s daughters need our help.
Their mum – an amazing singer, care professional and awesome human – was murdered about 10 days ago at Buccan, Queensland.
Velvet is the first Australian woman lost to violence this year.
A client she provided care services is charged with her murder. Velvet leaves behind two teen daughters: Tauya and Nyasha.
Velvet’s friends and family are raising funds for the girls in the hopes of securing their futures.
Velvet is an icon of Queensland’s music and performance scene. She is very-much adored and respected.
Her children need us to wrap our arms around them in as many ways as we can.
“As a single mother, her daughters were her everything and her devotion to them was absolute,” Amber writes on the GoFundMe.
“They captivated her heart and inspired her generous way of being.
“For Tauya and Nyasha, Velvet was their rock, safe harbour and best friend.
“The bond they shared was unbreakable and her loss leaves a devastating void.
Our hope is that funds raised will ensure that as they navigate an uncertain future without their mother’s physical presence, they do not have to navigate it without the community’s support.
“Tauya is preparing to begin university, while Nyasha is embarking on her senior years of school.
“Velvet worked tirelessly to give her daughters every opportunity, and now, we want to honour her legacy by looking after them.”
