So … ah. It’s 2026. And a judge -a female one at that – has just described a rapist as *** check notes for precise quote ****: ‘ …this wonderful young man with a very bright future who has worked very hard to get to where he is.’.
Nope. Not America. Not Afghanistan. Australia. Australia. Australia. Australia.
I kid you fucking not (and look I am not toning the language down on this).
Toowoomba District Court Judge Dzenita Balić was sentencing Thon Monyluke Deng Angui for the rape of a young woman in a park.
The victim now lives in deep fear, struggles to sleep and is deeply traumatised emotionally and psychologically.
The woman’s family is also enduring unimaginable pain and trauma.

But it’s all good because the rapist is a … ‘hard worker and a wonderful young man’.
In sentencing the rapist she said “This is a very difficult sentence for me.”
REALLY…Imagine how difficult it is for the woman who’s rapist was told: “On one hand we have this wonderful young man with a very bright future who has worked very hard to get to where he is, considering his background. But on the other hand we have a very traumatised young woman, also, who has been taken advantage of … the offence of rape is one of the most serious offences in the criminal code.”
Old mate rapist will only spend two years of a five-year sentence behind bars. Wouldn’t want him to grow into a ‘wonderful old man’ in jail now would we!
