The man who murdered 26-year-old Jody Galante is on the verge of leaving prison and plans to live in the South West Rocks or Port Macquarie area of NSW.
Mark Galante has been on work release from the prison in Cessnock. He told locals in the area he is due to leave prison in the next week or so.

He purchased a gun in October of 2005, about the time he started plotting to kill Jody. Jody was on the verge of leaving the relationship and he was jealous of her.
On January 7, 2006, he drove Jody, who was expecting a baby, and her two-year-old child to Bilpin. He pulled the car over, said he had to go to the toilet. He took the gun out of the boot and used it to end Jody’s life, while the little one was in the backseat of the vehicle. The toddler later described what happened to family.
He fronted media and begged the community for help with finding Jody.

He was charged three months after Jody died and claimed he was innocent until the eve of his trial, when he entered a guilty plea to murder.
He was sentenced to 27 years with parole after 20 years.
A local resident from Cessnock told me he was quite open about being in prison when he spoke to them recently. He urged the local to Google him to find out about the crime.
He was in the area with his mother and said he would be living with his parents.
