A man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of his 74-year-old mother. She passed away in July of last year. She is the 79th Australian woman killed in 2025. We have lost 12 women this year. Police said that on 1 July, 2025 emergency services attended the woman’s home and found her in extremely poor health and living conditions. ACT Ambulance Service paramedics transported her to hospital, but she passed away the next day. Police allege the 54-year-old man, who was the woman’s full-time carer, failed to provide adequate care over an extended period and failed to seek medical assistance for the woman despite her significant and worsening health conditions.
