One of the owners of ACM – which publishes multiple media outlets including the Canberra Times – is accused of domestic violence assaults against his partner.
Antony Catalano allegedly dragged her by the hair and ankles and tried to hit her with an iron at their home in St Kilda.
Catalano is charged with assault, false imprisonment and making threats to kill.
His partner was taken to hospital to be treated for an injured coccyx.

He is now on bail with conditions.
CCTV recorded parts of the assault.
Catalano’s legal team said in court the footage ‘doesn’t look great’.
In a statement, Catalano laid the blame for the alleged assaults on drug use and his mental health.
Catalano stood down as ACM executive chairman for six months.
He says he will go to re-hab.
