Spencer was the last person to see Hayley alive – he told police she went to stand up, fell and hit her head on a table.
The young mum was abused by Spencer and at the time of her death he was charged with breaching a domestic violence order.
For Hayley’s family, it’s been a hard slog trying to get justice. Her mum Lisa told media it often felt like no one cared about her daughter’s death and the reason why she died.
โ€œWeโ€™ve been through hell in the last nine years, waiting for answers, fighting for answers,” Lisa said.
“Itโ€™s been very hard because it just felt like you know, nobody really cared that she had died. Itโ€™s important to get justice for Hayley and to know what happened to her and why sheโ€™s not here anymore.โ€
Lisa said Hayley was a fun and kind young woman who was happy and very much loved.
โ€œI was a very lucky mum to have (her), she was a very good girl,” she said.
โ€œHayley was deeply loved by our family, and we have never stopped missing her smile, her infectious laugh and the fierce love she had for her children.”
