❤️SHE MATTERS: PAMELA MORRISON❤️
A woman was on bail for previous assaults on her mother when she inflicted the injuries that would lead to the 71-year-old woman’s death.
Pamela Morrison was beaten and stabbed at her home in Blackalls Park, NSW, on February 1.
Pamela passed away in April. Her daughter Sarah Louise Leigh Morrison is charged with her murder. Pamela is the 35th of 36 Australian woman killed this year.
Last year we lost 79 women to violence – the year before 106 women were killed.
Morrison allegedly assault Pamela in September last year.
At the time, she was charged with assault and intimidation and granted bail. Police applied for an interim apprehended domestic violence order to protect Pamela.
Morrison breached that order about four weeks later and was charged again. On February 1, she stole a car and went to Pamela’s home.
She assaulted her with multiple weapons then left in the stolen vehicle, crashing the car nearby. Police charged her with the attack on Pamela and she was placed on remand.
Meanwhile, Pamela was hospitalised in a serious but stable condition. She was released and scheduled to have surgery related to the injuries in April. She died from surgical complications.
The ongoing failures in our safety nets are evident and yet the will to close the holes is almost non-existent.
And now another woman has paid the price.
