Yvonne Whear went missing in February and police say there is no evidence she made the choice to disappear.
Despite extensive search operations and ongoing family pleas, the 73-year-old Northern Rivers woman remains unaccounted for.
Yvonne was last seen driving her gold Ford Escape wagon (NSW registration EWS28P) on Queensland Road, Murwillumbah, on February 19, 2026.
It was 3.20pm.
The Daily Telegraph reports Yvonne had spent the 18 months before she disappeared trying to sort out a dispute.
A tribunal hearing was to be held the week after she disappeared.
Police have searched Dungay and Murwillumbah using drones, helicopters, boats and sonar equipment, trail bikes and officers in vehicles and on foot.
Yvonnes’ daughter Gillian Hallac says with every passing day there is increased confusion and heartbreak.
“Our family is doing everything we can to cope, but the uncertainty is overwhelming. The support from the community has meant so much, and we just hope someone out there holds the piece of information that will bring Mum home,” Gillian said.
“I miss her advice, her voice, her presence. It’s the everyday moments that hurt the most – the ones we never thought we’d lose. We just need to know where she is and what has happened so our family can finally breathe again.
“Someone out there knows something. Even the smallest detail could help bring Mum home, and we’re begging people to share what they know. Our family, especially her grandchildren – need answers.”
Detective Acting Inspector Chris Elliott said police were desperate to bring Yvonne home.
“Since Yvonne’s disappearance there has been considerable speculation, but the investigation remains open,” Elliot said.
“Detectives continue to examine all available information, and at this stage we are keeping an open mind as to what may have happened.
“Investigators have not identified any evidence to suggest Yvonne intended to voluntarily disappear.
“Anyone who saw Yvonne, spoke with her, or noticed her vehicle around the time she went missing should contact police – even a small detail could help move this investigation forward.”
