Five days after she was injured in a drive-by shooting at Fitzys Loganholme in Queensland, 19-year-old Vana-Reese Schuster-Togiatau passed away.
The men who killed Vana-Reese were strangers to her. They also injured three men in the attack on October 24, 2026.
Vana-Reese is the 58th Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 80 women to violence – the year before 106 women were killed.

The men have not yet been caught and Queensland Police have launched a homicide investigation into Vana-Reese’s death.
Logan District Detective Inspector Ian Galpin urged anyone with information to call police.
“A 19-year-old woman in the prime of her life who was simply going out for a night out with friends has had her life taken from her in the most cowardly way,” he said.
“We have not stopped and we will not stop until these people are identified and taken into custody.
“There are people out there who know exactly who was involved in this offence and know exactly why it occurred,” he said.
“I’m asking those people to brave enough to come forward with that information and contact police.”
