Tina Nash has spent 14 years living a nightmare in darkness – and now it’s about to get worse.
In April of 2011, Shane Jenkins knocked Tina out and wrapped her tightly in a duvet.
When she came to, her right eye was swollen and her left eyeball was laying on her cheek.
He’d used his thumbs to gouge them from their sockets.
His assaults continued for eight hours, until a child at the home was able to run for help.
“I thought I was going to lose my kids – I had lost everything,” Tina said in a 2012 media interview.
“I asked my family to finish me off because I didn’t want to be here anymore.
“I didn’t think I had a future. My future was my boys; I was living for them, and that was it. I had to be strong, but I was so ill.
“Those months were the worst of my life.”

Jenkins was jailed for life, but the corrections system is preparing him for release, moving the violent thug to a low-security facility where he has day outings.
Tina fears he will come after her.
She is fundraising for security cameras, counselling, and legal support.
“I’m really scared. I don’t think he’ll leave it – especially because I’ve spoken out about what he’s done,” Tina says.
“He has been sitting there this whole time, kicking himself that he did not finish me off.”
Two years after Jenkins’ attack, another partner assaulted her. He was also jailed.
Writing Out of the Darkness helped Tina emotionally, but she will always carry mental and physical scars.
Now she advocates for other women, hoping her story will save lives.
“I will continue to speak up and out for myself and other victims of domestic violence,” she says.
