❤️SHE MATTERS: AUDREY GRIFFIN❤️
Going out with mates is a rite of passage for every young Australian – arriving home safe and sound is an extension of this.
Audrey Griffin went out on March 23. Her right to get home safely was stolen when someone murdered her.
She was killed at Erina Creek, NSW, on or about March 23.
A man has just been charged with Audrey’s murder.
Audrey is the 22nd Australian woman killed this year and the 123rd woman killed since January 1, 2024.
When we first heard of Audrey’s death, police reassured us she had not been killed. Repeatedly. Then they put a call out to speak to a man caught on CCTV. And yesterday, they charged a male with murder. He was on bail for domestic violence.
It’s not known if police said her death was not suspicious as a ruse to trap the accused, or if their initial investigations were inadequate.
What I do know is, many people from the local area are justifiably upset after realising for almost a month they had an accused killer in their midst. We need honesty from police when women are murdered – and this is even more vital when potential killers are not apprehended.
Audrey was 19. A university student. A talented sports star. A much-loved daughter. A respected and adored friend. She was smart, funny, kind – she was all the things.
Audrey’s friends spoke at her funeral just 11 days later, describing how important this young woman was to them – and to their community.
“Our friendship would have lasted a lifetime and for that I’m forever grateful,” one friend said.
“Audrey has left an everlasting impression on everyone who met her — a loyal friend to many, who will be deeply missed.
“I hope we’re best friends in the next life too and in every universe before and after this one.”
REST IN POWER AUDREY GRIFFIN! ❤️
