❤️SHE MATTERS: CARRA SAMANTHA LUKE! ❤️
An empathic and caring human being, nurse, mother and friend, Carra Samantha Luke was so many things to so many people.
She touched thousands of lives through her work in health, her kindness to family and friends and her support of people in her community.
Just after midnight on Saturday, Police found Carra critically ill in her home at Taigum, Queensland. She could not be saved. Police set up two crime scenes, including one at the home of a male known to her. The 52-year-old male is now in custody.
Carra is the 48th Australian woman killed this year, the 153rd lost to violence since January 1, 2024 and the fourth woman killed in just six days this past week.
Carra spent 25 years as a nurse.
“A most empathic and caring human being, nurse, mother, and friend Carra has been with us for 20 years and was the heart and soul of the practice,” her employer said in a statement.
“She is irreplaceable, and we will miss her every day. She will always remain in our hearts here at the practice.”
Carra’s friend and colleague told media she was irreplaceable.
“She was very good with patients. I don’t think I will find someone like that again,” she said.
“I worked with her for three years, she had been at the practice for over 20 years.
“She was very dedicated to the job, patients loved her. We all loved her, she is going to be greatly missed.
“We are so traumatised, we are still dealing with what to do, and see how we can help each other.”
A journalist asked me was there anyway Carra’s death could have been prevented and was there a way of ending the epidemic?
I said: “Men. Men are the key to ending violence against women. In Carra’s case, the man who chose to end her life could have prevented her death by not harming her.”
That evening the journalist closed his report with: ‘We will never know how she could have been saved’. The answer is right there, but they refuse to see it, acknowledge it and name it.
