The media spent more time writing about her alleged killer’s pajamas than they spent telling us about Irene Selmes.
I guess the murder of a fragile 84-year-old grandmother is less salacious than knowing exactly what an alleged murderer was wearing when police made their arrest.
Irene was found dead on October 4 in her bedroom of her home in Melonba, NSW. Some five weeks later, Irene’s daughter-in-law Rebecca Weslowski was charged with her murder.
Police provided to media outlets vision of them arresting the accused woman in her night attire. So of course the headlines around her PJs flowed thick and fast.
Irene lived with her son and his partner and was no doubt reliant on the charged woman keeping her safe.
