Once again, a woman has been murdered in Australia after police were warned she faced a very real risk of being harmed.
Kah Ming Tan – a 28-year-old mother – was found critically injured in her home at St James, Western Australia on August 26. She’d been brutalised days before and left without any sort of medical support. She passed away in hospital a short time after emergency services found her.
Younis Qambari – Ming’s partner – is charged with her murder.
Ming is the 48th Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 79 women to violence – the year before 106 women were killed.
Ming’s family called police in April as they were worried about her safety after noticing Ming had multiple injuries, the WA Today reports.
“WA police are aware of multiple previous interactions with police and are examining those, and any other interactions there may have been with other agencies,” a WA Police spokesperson said in a statement.
“Each of these interactions are being examined as part of a thorough investigation, as per standard practice.”
