A beautiful soul. A kind heart. A glorious, colourful, vibrant woman who lit up the stage … and all the people in her life.
Katie Tangey was so many things.
On Thursday morning, two men stole everything amazing about her away when they murdered her by firebombing the house she was looking after.
Katie is the 4th Australian woman killed this year – the 4th killed these past five days.
Police say three men actually chose the wrong home to firebomb. They remain on the run.
“I am completely broken and don’t know how we are going to heal from this devastating news. If you could all remember our beautiful soul in your own way,” Katie’s mum said.
Katie was an icon of Melbourne’s burlesque scene. She performed as Vivien May-Royale.
A friend told me: “She was a leading burlesque performer and plus size model in Melbourne. And the kindest soul you had ever met.
“She dominated the burlesque scene and Melbourne runways with her incredible talent and creative skills.
“But she also touched many of our lives with her warmth.
“Her death is reverberating throughout the entire Melbourne performance community.”
RIP KATIE TANGEY! ❤️
