❤️SHE MATTERS: LAUREN HOPKINS❤️
Life was rarely easy and kind to Lauren Hopkins, but no matter how hard the road she travelled, she always made sure her children knew they were loved.
Last Saturday, one of those children allegedly assaulted her in Redfern, NSW.
Lauren was taken to the hospital with critical head injuries. She died three days later.
He was charged with grievous bodily harm.
It’s not known if that charge will be upgraded.
Lauren is the 29th Australian woman killed this year and the 132nd woman killed since January 1, 2024.
I’ve recorded about 100 cases of matricide in my 10 years documenting killed women.
After intimate partner violence, the act of matricide is the second most common form of family violence killings in Australia.
And it’s getting worse. There’s been a steep incline in sons killing their mothers these past two or so years.
A quick analysis of timelines shows this increase is in tandem with the platforming of deeply misogynistic and violent men like Andrew Tate.
“To hear the news that her son is (allegedly) responsible for her leaving this earth is even more tragic because even at some of her low points, ensuring her sons knew they were loved was what was important to her,” a close friend says.
“Lauren lived a life with trauma, she deserved more, she deserved to realise that she was funny, super intelligent and savvy.”
REST IN POWER LAUREN HOPKINS! ❤️
