SHE MATTERS: MARIKA POGANY

❤️SHE MATTERS: MARIKA POGANY ❤️

Our national broadcaster has published stories about the known victims of the Bondi Beach mass murder attack on December 14.
The stories about the men killed are long and indepth examinations fo their life’s work.
The story about 10-year-old Matilda is also perfect reporting about a murder victim.
However, they’ve only managed one sentence about 82-year-old volunteer and grandmother Marika Pogany.
Marika is the 66th Australian woman killed this year and the 171st woman lost to violence since January 1 of 2024.
Marika was sitting at the front of the Jewish festival activities when two men decided to massacre people.
Having lived more than eight decades, surely the ABC could have found a few more words about her life.
Like how she dedicated well over 23 years to delivering kosher meals to people in need across her community.
Or that she came to Australia from Slovakia.
Or that her mother and uncle were the only survivors of an Auschwitz Concentration Camp.
Or that she was a devoted and caring human who adored her family and her friends.
Or that she was, as one friend said, ‘a beautiful soul taken far too soon’.
Marika loved Australia – it was her home and her place of peace.
“Sydney was a safe haven for her – away from fascism and communism,” a friend told a media outlet.
“She was an extraordinary woman who lived her life to the fullest.”
