❤️SHE MATTERS: MUZHDAH HABIBI❤️
She went to Queensland Police for help – they turned her away, saying they could do nothing without physical signs of violence. Muzhdah Habibi was murdered a short time later.
Last Friday, her husband and his brother allegedly killed her at her home in Springfield Lakes, Queensland.
The 23-year-old mum-of-two is the 28th of 29 Australian women killed this year, and the 131st of 132 women killed since January 1, 2024.
In 2020, Muzhdah was forced into marriage without her consent by her brothers and her mother.
They lived in Kabul but moved to Australia in 2021.
Here his family allegedly abused and mistreated her, including taking her children away from her and throwing her out of the house.
A few weeks before she was killed, Muzhdah was in Afghanistan.
She decided to leave her husband. Due to the male-dominated rule of the Taliban there, she feared her children would be taken.
She returned to Australia to get that divorce, believing she stood a better chance of keeping them.
She was in fear of her life, so like most victims, she went to the police for help and protection, those close to her told me.
Police said there was nothing they could do without physical signs of violence on her body.
Muzhdah’s little boys are in care, family in Australia unable to take them, and legal hurdles facing her family overseas wanting custody.
Muzhdah Habibi just wanted to raise her sons in peace and security.
She just wanted to watch them grow.
She just wanted to be free to make her own decisions.
REST IN POWER MUZHDAH HABIBI! ❤️
