‘I know you’ll forever be looking down on every single one of us’.
How many more children must be deprived of their mums before we act?
Rhukaya Lake was murdered in Kearsley, NSW, on October 31. Her partner Christopher James McLoughney, 37, allegedly shot Rhukaya to death. He was caught the following evening after going on the run. He has since been charged with her domestic violence homicide.
Rhukaya is the 58th Australian woman lost to violence this year and the 163rd killed since January 1, 2024.
Rhukaya was a much-loved mum and an adored friend and community member.
“Forever gone (you will) be in our hearts mum, this has absolutely shattered the whole family,” one of her children said on social media.
“It’s never going to be the same without you around.
“I know you’ll forever be looking down on every single one of us and I really hope we all make you proud.”
