The man who allegedly killed 25-year-old Savannah Spence Paige is a domestic violence perpetrator with a long history of offending.
A stranger to Savannah, Jake Edward Warn is charged with manslaughter and other offences after he piloted a stolen car into her vehicle at Smithfield, Queensland, on August 5.
Savannah is the 44th Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 79 women to violence – the year before 106 women were killed.
Police are now pushing to have the DPP accept a charge of murder based on reckless indifference – this should apply every time a volatile offended uses a vehicle as a weapon.
“Savannah was beautiful inside and out, with a smile that lit up every room,” Savannah’s family said in a statement.
“She had an incredible sense of humour, a kind and caring heart, and was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
