Summer Fleming dreamed of becoming a nurse so she could help others. She deserved to attain that dream. A man decided to end her dream and her life (allegedly).
Summer was murdered at a home in Rutherford, NSW, on Monday. Her partner, 31-year-old Jethro Gamueda, is charged over her death.
Summer is the 45th of 46 Australian woman killed this year and the 149th of 150 lost to violence since January 1, 2024. She was only 20 years old.
Summer’s family is starting to travel a road that is arduous every step of the way.
They will always be guided by their shining star.
“She loved going out and catching up with people and was one of a kind,” her sister told a media outlet.
“She walked in a room and her big smile just lit up the room.”
A dear friend says: “She dreamed of being a nurse, to help and look after people.
“She was kind, and full of light, and checked on her friends and the people around her constantly.
“She was ambitious and adventurous. She deserved more. And so do women in Australia.”
He may have ended Summer’s dream but he will never erase her story.
