SHE MATTERS: SUPRIYA THAKUR

❤️SHE MATTERS: SUPRIYA THAKUR❤️
She wanted to give her son every chance at happiness.
She dreamed of becoming a nurse and of helping people in her community.
Supriya Thakur was murdered at her home in Northfield, South Australia, on Sunday.
Her former partner, Vikrant Thakur is charged with murder.
Supriya is the 72nd Australian woman killed this year and the 177th woman killed since January 1 of 2024.
As I write, we have lost 10 women and one child to violence since December 5. I am monitoring 16 other suspected femicides.
Supriya was mum to a teenage son. She was dedicated to the young lad and would do anything to ensure his life was calm and happy.
A friend told a media outlet Supriya was no longer in a relationship with her husband but was living with him so her son would have his family together under one roof.
The youngster was home when Supriya was murdered.
Supriya’s dream of becoming a nurse meant working at least 80 hours a week.
“She loved her job,” her friend said.
“She wanted to bring home as much money as possible so her son could have the best life ever.
“I’m fortunate that I reminded her how good a mother that she is… and how amazing he (her son) is, is because of her.”
Supriya is just one of the many women who will be remembered at a Christmas Eve vigil on December 24. The vigil will honour all women and children killed this year will be held at the She Matters Mural, Hosier Lane, Melbourne, from 5.30pm, on Christmas Eve.
