SHE MATTERS: UNNAMED WOMAN

❤️SHE MATTERS: UNNAMED WOMAN!❤️

She was brutalised in the final minutes of her life by a man who professed to love her and now the media is brutalising her.
On Monday, a 51-year-old Aboriginal woman and amazing artist was murdered in Alice Springs, NT.
Her male partner is charged.
She is the 1st confirmed Australian victim of femicide this year.
A major media outlet published a story – penned by a white male journalist – about this woman. Instead of getting off his butt and interviewing people who loved her, he decided to demean her.
Other outlets are now doing the same thing.
She may have been living rough. She may have had an addiction. She may have had a hard life. But she was not defined by these things alone.
This woman was an artist. She was a mother. She was a loved and respected elder. She was a vibrant human with hopes and dreams just like all of us.
The focus on “drinking hand sanitiser” in these stories is designed to contribute to the underlying racist train of thought that all black people are alcoholics with no sense of shame. These headlines put money into the pockets of billionaire media owners.
The media is taking full advantage of her dire circumstances.
It would cost media and journalists so little to give this woman her dignity by telling the story of her life with ethics, warmth and care.
Instead, this is what they gave her. All for a few dollars.

REST IN POWER UNNAMED WOMAN! ❤️
