SHE MATTERS: UNNAMED WOMAN

❤️SHE MATTERS: UNNAMED WOMAN!❤️

Every time an Aboriginal woman is murdered in our country, the police and media bend over backwards to needlessly highlight factors they refuse to discuss in the murders of white women.
The factors they are so keen to headline are often present in other violent deaths. Constantly making them the key focus of press conferences or news articles reinforces some pretty f***ed up racial stereotypes.
And so other people think less of the victim – they say she was deserving of it, they say she was complicit in their own deaths.
And right on cue, this happened with the 31-year-old woman murdered in the Darwin suburb of Driver on September 16. Her 32-year-old partner is charged over her death. He was also in breach of a domestic violence order.
She is the 50th of 51 Australian women killed this year and the 155th of 156 women killed since January 1, 2024.
Alcohol did not kill this woman – a violent man killed her (allegedly). Her life matters regardless of her circumstances. Perhaps, one day, the media and authorities will figure this out. Or perhaps they don’t care to.
THIS UNNAMED WOMAN MATTERS!❤️
