A 47-year-old unnamed woman died on September 28, 2026, about 10 days after she was taken to the Palmerston Regional Hospital in the Northern Territory.
Her 39-year-old partner is charged with acts intended to cause serious harm.
She is the 54th Australian woman killed this year.
Last year we lost 80 women to violence – the year before 106 women were killed.
The Department of Public Prosecutions is considering an upgraded charge. It is alleged the woman was stabbed twice in the chest and her partner took her to hospital as she was ‘feeling unwell’.
