The Mayor of Liverpool Ned Mannoun published the home addresses of three women opponents on social media.
He put at risk Charishma Kaliyanda, former deputy mayor Betty Green and another female Labor Council candidate.
It’s not known if NSW Police are investigating and there’s no indication Mannoun will resign.
This information was shared into multiple Facebook groups by Councillor Richard Ammoun.
The post appears to have been removed but the damage is done.
Misogyny, including death threats, is rife on social media – abusive men using this information to harm women they do not agree with is not something we should underplay.
“Having my home address published by a political opponent is completely unacceptable,” Charishma says.
“This is not just a political tactic, it is doxxing and potential criminal conduct.
“It puts my safety and the safety of those around me, at serious risk.
“We have seen far too many high-profile cases where MPs, including Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane, have been stalked, threatened, and intimidated.
“No one should feel unsafe in their own home because of their work in public service. There is no excuse for this behaviour, and it must be called out for what it is.
“This behaviour crosses a clear line: it is dangerous, unacceptable and unworthy of public office.”
