The owner of Fyre Bar & Restaurant in Perth made an appalling ‘gang rape’ reference in an Instagram post to promo the weekend’s opening hours.
“Everybody is coming on Friday, oh my God, we’re going to get gang raped on Friday,” John Mountain said.
“Saturday is looking good, and we look forward to seeing you then. Don’t forget, be square or be vegan. Don’t be either, fuck vegans.”

After many women question his words, he published a comment saying ‘Nine out of 10 people agree with gang rape’.
When I called him out on social media, he published a reel claiming women do not know how to take a joke and that we should get over it because it is humour.
Then he told the media the words were taken out of context – which makes one wonder, in what context is it okay to joke about rape and sexual violence.

“There’s nothing fucking funny about rape at all in any way, shape, or form,” he told Perth Now.
“Sadly and stupidly, I said one wrong thing that was then taken out of context, and it’s just made me look like a complete and utter dick,” Mountain said.
“I genuinely apologise. I genuinely fucking do.
“I don’t say shit to offend people.
“Sometimes stupid jokes come out and it’s just wrong.”
