Queensland surgeon Vahid Reza Adib has been charged with three counts of rape, two counts of deprivation of liberty and one count of sexual assault. He has been released on bail.
Adib is accused of violating a woman at a home in Burleigh Heads on March 30. He is facing three counts of rape, one of sexual assault and two of deprivation of liberty.
In an unrelated case, he used a woman in a medical trial without her written consent while operating on a hernia that may not have existed.
He was investigated by the Medical Board of Australia’s Performance and Professional Standards Panel in 2011 over the trial, which was only supposed to be for men. He was reprimanded for “unsatisfactory professional performance” and “unprofessional conduct”.

It’s not yet clear if he is allowed to practice while facing the rape charges. Meanwhile, media have repeatedly framed their headlines around his partner. She has nothing to do with the alleged crime and her name should not even be mentioned.
