I’ve been given detailed information about Tyrendarra Football Netball Club’s internal communications with parents after we learned convicted child sex abuser James (Jimmy) Williams remains a listed player with the club.
The club is holding an information session for parents from 5.15pm on Tuesday, June 2, at Henty Park in Portland.
I urge anyone who is concerned about Williams being at the club to turn up and let the management know. Women and girls deserve safety – and Williams needs to go.
Meanwhile, legitimate question are being asked how a convicted sex attacker has managed to bypass working with children checks to remain with the club as women start to walk away out of anger.

Williams digitally r***ed a 15-year-old girl when he and his football mates went out in Adelaide in September of 2022.
He was charged with rape but pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under 17. He has since been sentenced to one year and two months jail, with a non-parole period of six months.
Despite this he still plays football for Tyrendarra FNC – and now the club has called a secret meeting of parents to justify this decision and explain how they plan on keeping girls safe.
The club has described legitimate media reporting – including my coverage – as digging up historical information.
Given the assault happened less than six years ago, it is hardly historical. And even if it was, every person sending girls to the club has the right to know he digitally raped a child and then blamed her for his assault on her.
The club refuses to accept its responsibility in platforming a child rapist and is simply shrugging off anyone who talks about it with glib words and distraction.
