In all honesty, what did they think would happen when they gave a non-citizen bail after he was charged with domestic violence offences against a woman?
Nathan Gallagher should have been at Burwood Local Court today but the alleged thug – who comes from Ireland – failed to show up because he did a runner after authorities did not take his passport away.
Gallagher – who appeared on Below Deck Mediterranean – was arrested back on December 27 for allegedly assaulting a 29-year-old woman in Melrose Park.
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking without consent and common assault.
Gallagher pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was granted conditional bail by Burwood Local Court on January 15, news.com.au reports.
Today the judge convicted Gallagher on all charges and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
With Australia in the depth of an epidemic of male violence against women and domestic violence killings rising, you’d think the courts would stop bailing offenders.
But here we are. Another woman irrevocably harmed. Another perpetrator free. And a system that keeps on fucking things up.
