Three men are in custody after allegedly assaulting two women during separate home invasions in Sydney’s south-west.
New South Wales police were called to a home in Arncliffe early on Tuesday.
Officers were told a group of men forced entry into the home and threatened a woman with a knife before sexually assaulting her and stealing money.
Officers attended a burglary at a unit in Bankstown on Thursday where three men forced entry into the unit before assaulting another woman and stealing money.
Sex crimes squad commander Virginia Gorman said: “I believe that these men had done some research and they believed that these women might be home alone and they might have money on the premises. So they were specifically targeted,” she said.
A 20-year-old man is charged with aggravated break and enter, depriving a person of their liberty, choking and common assault; a 19-year-old man is charged with aggravated break and enter, choking and aggravated sexual assault; and an 18-year-old man is charged with aggravated break and enter, choking and common assault.
Meanwhile, a man has been charged over the alleged stalking, choking and sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman at Homebush on September 18.

Detective Superintendent Gorman said police would allege the attack was “a cross between planning and opportunity”.
“Being knocked down on the street is a woman’s fear, it should be every person’s fear, that kind of violence against you randomly in the street,” she said.
