Australian financier Thomas Christopher Fennell is accused of multiple domestic violence assaults against a former partner.
The woman is pregnant. During the bail application in Sydney, Fennell’s lawyer Paul McGirr slut-shamed the woman by saying Fennell was not ‘necessarily the unborn child’s father’.
Fennell is charged with six offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The charges related to an alleged attack on May 21, 2026.
“The allegations are strenuously denied and will be vigorously defended,” McGirr told the media outlet.
The prosecution said Fennell posed an unacceptable risk to the community if he was bailed.
The judge said the case against him was strong but granted the bail application.
