Eyal Yaffe was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice but that was dropped in May 2026.
Marat Ganiev was charged with Isla’s murder. This charge was dropped in May of 2026 and instead he was placed on a pervert the course of justice offence. He is on bail and has not yet faced trial.
Yaffe was seen bringing a fridge to the apartment where Isla died and leaving with an another fridge wrapped in plastic.
He took that fridge to Caulfield South and cleaned items stored in his SUV and trailer. Ganiev is alleged to have shifted the fridge to other locations.
Yaffe was sentenced to 3.9 years in 2021 for breaking into a woman’s home two years earlier. He grabbed her by the throat and hit her face with his fist. He used a robe belt to strangle her, pushed her head into a window frame and cut her arm.
Days later, he came back to her home, using a fake gun to threaten her while saying he would stuff into a suitcase.
Yaffe was out on bail, facing charges for previous attacks against the same woman.
His criminal history includes extensive drug use and despite many charges he managed to avoid going to jail almost every time he faced court.
